Barbati is the ideal base for walking holidays, due to its prime position at the foothills of Mount Pantokrator. Mount Pantokrator is with 916m the highest point of the island offering splendid panoramic views that will most probably take your breath away.
It is possible to walk to the top of it but the journey will take about 7 hours. On clear days Italy can be seen despite being 130km away. There is also the Pantokrator Monastery, first built in the 14th century but destroyed in 1537. The present monastery was built at the end of the 17th Century and the outer cells in the 19th Century.
